About I took this shot while on my travels around the world. It is not often that I can work out exactly what is going to happen with the light but this is one occasion when my guess was right and the results exceeded dramatically my expectations. for those that don't know it is Monument NP in USA. The sunlight raked across the land beneath a layer of cloud and turned the butte blood red. My camera fairly smoked with the film I pushed through it. Perfect! A usual and obvious, still unmistakeably individual shot. Grat: Gyorgy

Lovely shot Ian. A real cracker. I love the way the horizontal lines in the rock, background and sky all come together.

Wonderful light, Ian!

I can imagine the smoke billowing out of your camera :) Rightly so! The colours are fantastic.

Some of the colours onthe rock itself seem to have blown out a bit. Probably the scan?

Having been there I can really appreciate the difficulty of achieving this shot. I think this and another by Patrick DiFruscia are the only two that really get close to showing the stunning beauty of the park.

Powerful shot, Ian...I'd love to see it in b&w or sepia.

love colors here; for the composition I would cut the bottom part of the shot cause it adds nothing interesting here and breaks the whole harmony - it would also let concentrate on the main subject;
anyway, thanks for sharing, I wish I was there :-)
regards
Lukasz
