About Another departure for me. I used my 135mm telephoto to capture a Duck mother and father teaching their little flock how to ride the little waterfalls on the river where they live. Mother is urging them on, while father waits below... one brave little soul went for it ahead of the others. Can you see him perched among the sand bags?

Mary, I can only guess about the purpose of the sandbags. Maybe it's to channel the water flow in some desirable direction? I do know that with the edges of a typhoon lashing Tokyo this afternoon, and more rain predicted for the next 24 hours than parts of Eastern England get in a YEAR, the sandbags will soon all be swept away. We may also see the local flood plane of the river filled bank to bank! In which case I'll take a photo, of course. It only happens once in a blue moon, and sometimes presages serious flooding.

Great shot with an interesting About. The perspective for your shot is just right to show this story. What is the purpose of the sand bags?
