About This is to demonstrate the dramatic retreat of the glaciers in the Alpes.

The upper picture was taken in 1972 with my first camera (Kodak ?) on Kodakchrome film.

The lower one on our trip through Switzerland this year.

Both show the Rhone glacier from almost the same view point.

great comparison!.. well, the earth has been in a warming period since the ice ages..but, no doubt man has an impact as much as nature... great work

In 1972 the glacier probably was more attractive than me, now it's my new camera which is more attractive than the glacier I suppose;-D

Hotel Belvedere's roof looks better but not the glacier. Excellent documentary shot Marcus.

Your father probably meant it in connection with human glory, Rafi. What we see here is nature, and it's not it's fault.

The tax comment was ironical.

Cheers, Markus

It's sad to see the glacier receding. As my late father usedto say "Sic transit gloria mundi." Let's hope that humanity comes to its senses (in more meanings than just this one) and does what is necessary.
Thank you for your vey kind comment on my "Goodbey friend, hello stranger" and you constructive critique on my "Upstairs and downststairs 2" and my "Ginger on blue tray."
As to the taxman, I pay each month 15% of my gross income as income tax and another 17% as VAT (value added tax, in case you don't have it in Austria.) So it's no wonder that in both these instances I pay more than I should and hence the backpay.
Best regards,
Rafi

Markus how good to be able to have such pictures to really see the difference. When we did out Alaskan Cruise there was a lady who had done it three years earlier and at one point she was so shocked at how different it looked.

Hi Markus..
I live in Italy and I saw thick reality of this type, in all the mountains of the alpine chain, but I do not have her been able to denounce like you! .. it is not polemic.. but reality!
is a true sin than abiamo reduced the world in this world, but it is not the place to say this thing. I put her in my favourites for the memory.
very eloquent.. see you later..
cheers
roby
