About This shot was taken with available light in an aluminium factory in Slovakia in 1990. The electromagnetical fields were strong enough to set off the shutter of the camera on its own, when passing between the elements. The life expectancy of a worker there: about 40 years. This production process had been outlawed in western Europe for years before.

I understand. Unfortunately I'm not photoshop poweruser to help you with the effect, that you want to reach. However, you can always make an additional layer with unmodified copy of the original image and soften the effect by setting the layer opacity. When I want to darken the sky, I use magic wand and other selection tools and apply Levels to the selection.
I have found, that the first link in Estonia section of your website points to a wrong picture...

Thanks for you comment. I received a similar comment on the "Snake Charmer" pic. Indeed I am overdueing the with glow. There may be two reasons for this. First: I generally like the kind of artificial drama it creates. Second: I have not yet mastered Photoshop enough. The shadowing looked a lot more natural when I did it manually in the lab. So, if someone has a good hint on how to darken the background/sky in photoshop without the heavy glow, then I would gladly hear about it. ... and thanks again for you comment, Vojtech.

It is a very nice picture. And not only this one. Only thing that I dislike on some of your pictures are the bright contours around some objects that you tried to emphasize. Anyway, keep taking that good pictures...
Oh and thanks for the "easy lessons" on your website.

Una foto eccellente, ambientazione particolare. Č una foto "denuncia" che perņ non rinuncia al lato artistico, la composizione e il BW sono ottimi. La metto tra le mie preferite
