Thanks Patrick - we tend to focus on different things at different times in our life, and things that we notice today or are interested in are probably not the things that captured our attention in the past and might not in the future. Peoria, AZ used to be considered the rose capital of the world - at least of the State. Glendale has several places that has massive plantings of roses - The Rose Haven Memorial Cemetary and the Historic Saguaro Ranch Park and its Rose Garden. This was taken at Saguaro Ranch.

Great shot Janice. I spent a couple year in Phoenix but don't remember the roses. Perhaps I was to young to really look. Nice work. patrick

Thanks Margaret - now I really need to start practicing taking photos with the two cameras that Rob left here for me to "play" with. He left me his Sigma and a newer Cybershot (? 4 or 5 megapixel one). So far, I have had better success taking macros with my "old" (1.3 megapixel) Cybershot. He would like me to upgrade my camera to a SLR - but I am not sure I am ready to tackle one as big as the Sigma. Wish I knew more about the Canon Rebel XT - guess I just need to get down to a camera shop and do some test "drives." I do want to find one (reasonably priced) that isn't too complicated, yet does outstanding macros in addition to get landscapes. So, I have been checking out who uses what to take what kind in everyone's portfolio. Guess that is one way to do it, huh?

Thank you Christine - really am a pushover for the fall colors - guess because I am a "summer" and don't look that great in fall tones. Jan

Thanks Ellen - will give it a try. The background was already blurred - but I could darken some and blur somemore and see what happens. LOL - that I actually know how to do. Go figure! Jan

Beautiful rose Jan! It does look as if it is on fire.

Beautiful rose, it sure looks like the same one Jan. If it turns pink the older it gets I think that's the sign it's a Joesph's Coat.
You could blur out the background just bit and throw more attention on the rose. Ahh but that's another lesson. lol
