About A single RAW shot, handheld (1/40 sec f:5.6 @ 10 mm, that is 16 mm in film terms)
To connect dandelions and sky, I took this old hut and colored the B&W. Ok, a bit cliche the colored B&W, but here I like it more than the monochrome.
B&W and toning from a 16bit TIF, with Convert to B&W Pro and PS. A composite of 5 different B&W TIFFs (toned for sky, hut, trees, grass) and one color TIF (select > color range, layer mask from selection).

I adore this! You know how fond I am of moody, magical fantastical imagery -- this one has my heart. You did a beautiful job. The color on the flowers is fantastic. Antonia

Great effect on this great scene.
The dandelions seem like little lamps lighted in the field, the blue casting give a perfect mood.

Congrats Fabio

Great work Carsten,
i like your idea and the result looks wonderful,
anyway i have some perplexity about that general blueish/violet toning...a bit bizarre for my feeling... but the whole stormy atmosphere is fantastic and match perfectly my taste (as you already know ;-))
take care
Giorgio

Yet another beautiful and awsome picture from you, Carsten. Congratulations on the technical process, too. I cannot really decide between the BW and the colored one. Both have their merits.

Hi Carsten.

scary stuff this time ;-)

I like the wide angle perspective, the dark mood and the fabulous sky. I have some concerns with the general toning (this is definitely a personal thing, but I don't like that kind of color) and the yellow spots in the grass. The look a bit burned out to me.

anyway, I appreciate your idea behind the rework. this is photoart. go ahead on your path.

best wishes,

Thilo

I really like this. The colours and lighting are wonderful. Great effect. I like this one better than the other. I don't know why, just because.

Hi Carsten! I like this version quite a lot, and I have to say I prefer it over the black and white. I see nothing cliché about this at all - rather it's a fantastical (and fantastic!) scene of a world where the imagination can run free!
Both versions seem a little dark to me (especially the B&W) but only to the extent that I wish I could see a bit more detail in the hut itself. I love the drama it creates, though!
Hey, thanks for your comment - I've been away from UF for a while and haven't been commenting or posting until now.

I think that I prefer the black and white version although both images have their merits. The sky seems darker in this version. Regards, Andree

Very beautiful scene. I was going back and forth between the two versions and I can't pick a favorite. Boh have their own very interestings aspects.

Excelent work and composition!

Fabulous results Carsten, I can imagine the BW beauty of this, but the coloring work you did is much more powerful and moody!

Todd Miller   {K:16464} 5/14/2005
i wouldn't call this cliche at all...i think the tones are so dark and moody that the colored dandelions have a glowing/surreal look....very cool if you ask me! love the wide angle too.
cheers,
todd
