About Subject background: Me waiting in the sun/dark. 1 mins later, the sun went down, at least there was no sun behind anymore =) The location is rather scary, a church ruin since the 16th century. For the Holga part, we want to include the great back light for the surrounding parts.

The title refers to

and

PS concept: just changed the toning, nothing more.

Honest feedback highly appreciated

Fantatic shot as the other one Thilo, I do agree with the opinions regarding the person standing, you look like you're out for a smoke or something:) and I like Andre's suggestion of an old lady, probably even if you wear some long cloth and covering your head. Great work as usual my friend!

Hi Mark,

interesting to see the feedback ;-)

To be honest, we did some shots without any person here but the person IMHO adds something.

He does seem that the figure is hiding and waiting. Nice composition and use of light and shadow. Good job. Regards, Andree

Hello thilo
even tho I do like this image a lot but the title flabbergasted me!!!
This image resembles hope, the shadow of a person is walking OUT of the shadowy area into the light, and he/she is looking back possibly in regret or in relief
guess you were aiming for a different theme, and obviously this is just my personal insight on this wonderful image!
The toning is excellent and the composition is superb!

Like an enchanted film set. All is good, but the 'spotlight' area created by the doorway on the ground is magical! - H

Hi Ursula,

Werde heute vermutlich streiken...

This is a spectacular setting. I feel like this was from long ago, except for you under the arch. I would suggest another one without you there, and with you making the exposure.

I'm with you - this is really a cool shot - the thing I like about it is the perfect marriage between the shadow and light - especially arround you . K

Thilo,
I understand what George is saying about your pose. But, I think the pose is fine the way it is too. Chrissie seems to have captured you with a "little boy lost" look that the bent knees and shape of the shadow enhances. I think it's fine. What are the chances of getting a little old lady with a cane to pose under that arch for you? :) That could be the next shot! Remember, I had the idea first.

great mood, and tones, Thilo. I do agree with Georges comments ( a cape would have been really cool!) but of course there are the practicalities to consider a well (a little wierd walking around the village in a cape!)
I like this Holga work very much!

Hi Angelo,

this is what I said hundreds of times to Chrissie: Go for your own pictures! But she always hesitates to do so ;-)

best thing I can do is to do some double "action" to bring her skills to UF =)

thx for the feedback mate,

thilo

Hey Thilo,

Nice interplay of light/dark here. You sure know how to use that soft lens to good effect.

But what is the photographer doing IN FRONT of the camera? What's wrong? Why won't you allow Chrissie her own UF account???

Just kidding...

Excellent.. like the broader view of the area... it would also look great with no in the image, probably would be more moody and eerie without the human element in it... you definitely get the most out of that camera :)

You are certainly producing wonderful images evocative of some of the dreamy pictures from England in the 19th century. The tonal quality is marvelous. I can only suggest that the figure would be stronger (and more stylistically integrated) if he were turned 3/4 AWAY from the camera. It would give him a bit more feeling of romantic mystery and hide the lettering on the t-shirt. (Long sleeves would be even better ;-)

Best regards,
--George
