Reza:

In a room with a window, if the light hits polished wood at a narrow angle you will pick up a really high gloss.

I enjoy the sharing of ideas too, but which one is the teacher????? I think we are both students of an art form that we love. There is and always will be so much to learn.

Can you define bounce for me? It's one of the many nebulous words that I occasionally see in writing. Thanks for the comments.

Good composition, good tones, good DOF. Technically well done. The backlighting will provide a nice gloss on the wood if you can get the bounce and exposure just right.

Overall a nice photo.

Many thanks, Richard. I enjoy the virtual friendship that we have built up through UF. It seems as though it has become quite the teacher-student relationship, and I'm thankful for your comments. I'll be browsing through your portfolio soon.

Thanks a lot, Kristin. I'm doing all of this for my own edification and it seems that every now and then I upload a picture that people can relate to, so I get some comments. I wish it was more consistent because I'm treating this like a photo class, but your comments and the others here are enough to keep me occupied and have a glance at your portfolios as well! Thanks again.

One thing I have noticed is that you are really starting to show diversity in your portfolio. The image here uses a narrow DOF to draw attention to the notes on the page in a very effective manner. Kristin is right you do deserve more comments.

I love it! I've actually been thinking of trying something similar and you beat me to it. :) Great angle and I like the placement of your bow.
