Hello Franz,
Thank you very much for your reply. From what you wrote this kit lens seems not bad at all. It encourages me to use it more. Best regards.
Paul

Bruce, thank you for your helpful comments. Thinking it all over, I know now why I cut the original photo my way. - Not so much because of the tree branch, but I didn't want to appear the UBS logo in the picture! Have a good day. Frqnz

Very good photo. Didn't think that the kit lens 18-55/3.5-5.6 could be so good. Did you shoot wide open and with iso 100? Congrats!

Franz Lovely to see you on the front page, with another of a lovely colourful shot, from this series, which has been most interesting. Margaret

Franz, thanks for your response. I think that somewhere between the original and your first posted image would work best as suggested by Roger Williams. I attach such an attempt at a rework. I think it emphasises the first girl well and provides a leading line along the girls into the picture. I'd be inclined to clone out the tree branch intruding into the picture as it compete with the girl for the viewer's interest. Anyway, hope this helps.

I think your instinct to crop the original was right, and agree that you were a bit too severe. A squarer crop with the last clarinet on the right just in the frame (and the top of the nearest girl's beret) might be better. It's a beautiful shot, and well worth working on. I've really enjoyed this series... obviously a great photo opportunity!

I like the colours and the sharpness of this image but I really wish the top of the foreground girl's head was in view.
