Thanks for your comments Hugo. You're right that this shot is "all about the textures and shapes," which is why I left the colors pretty much as they were captured.
Hi James, In essence a simple shot, but the texture and tones in the eyes are beatifully captured; amazing sculptures... I do believe a reference to the sheer size of these ice formations adds to the appeal and impact of such a shot. (Not implying that the absence thereof thus creates a boring and sizeless shot, on the contrary...;), but I do think the nature of the subjects is different; in this case, I believe it's all about the textures and shapes I described earlier)
