City - Rannoch moor State - SCOTLAND / HIGHLANDS Country - United Kingdom
About
Previously I posted "Stark" the same landscape, but that was taken with a medium telephoto and used compression of the elements to form a composition, this has an entirely diferent feel to it. I personally have no preference of one over the other, but I would be very interested to hear your views. In this the tree has been kept deliberately insignificant to emphasise the remoteness of Rannoch moor Glencoe, Scotland. That tree is one of only two on this vast empty area. The other is equally scrawny and in the middle of a loch on a small island. Pentax 67II, 55-100 zoom and backed off polariser with 0.45ND grad filter attached. Please do take a look at my website at www.transientlight.co.uk and at www.timecatcher.com for some new work.
Great light and colour Ian. I think I marginally prefer the original. I can see that you've tried to minimise the impact of the tree but the eye remains drawn to it and it gets a little difficult for the brain to unscramble it from the plethora of other similar tones and textures so I end up not taking in the breathtaking scenery and wonderful sky.
I actually like this because the vast scattered snowy foreground mirrors the beautiful whispy sky overhead. Makes for a pleasing image. Plus I like the vertical format leading the eye to the mountains. But, hey, all your images are truly inspirational. Have enjoyed your work other places as well. I knew your name sounded very familiar to me. Your website is very impressive as well. You are in the company of many talented photographers. You all bring a renewed and admired appreciation for nature through your wonderful images. Thank you for sharing them!
