Thanks for your comments Maggie. I tried removing the dead twigs from the pic using CorelPhotoPaint, and whoa, what a difference - I think if I actually tried to fondle the plant to get rid of the things, grandma would've probably not been too amused :-).
This is my first "flower" shot, and it proved to be a royal pain in the butt! I can't take credit for "good exposure" - I simply couldn't get the damned camera to take a pic that showed both the LOUD colors of the flowers and the deep shadows in the background, no matter what settings I used. I ended up under-exposing the pic (-1eV), then using CorelDraw to boost the intensity and color saturation a bit. A *very slight* tone adjustment finished the job.
I guess that's one of the advantages of digital photography - it really forces you to become familiar with your photo editing software :-).

Hi Brian... good exposure on this one and I like how you angled the flowers across the frame, it makes for a stronger composition that way. Only thing I would do here is just crop 1/4 inch off the right side to get rid of those white vine things int the bottom right corner.
Often times when I see things like this I remove them if they are dead twigs or if still live and attached to main plant I will try and cover them with a nearby leaf from the same plant...*smile*....Maggie
