Hi Thilo,

die 14mm ergeben ein extrem unwirkliches Bild...die Gebäude 'der Stabilität geraubt' wie nachträglich in die Landschaft plaziert...

mal wieder eine beeindruckende PS Arbeit...

Liebe Grüße,
Verena

Amazing distortions from the 14mm - but the perspective looks great - very dramatic !!

So much to see, cloud detail is very impressive and the reflections off the building look super.

Best regards,
Steve

I really like the way that the shot is so strong, mechanically.....yet, it's effectiveness is brought out by the color of the grass. Like a great dish, where the true flavor is brought forth by a single "special" ingredient! Great shot, Thilo! ..Brad

Hi Thilo...

Beautiful composition... The lines are great and I love how the sky looks... It is for me very dramatic... For me it is a demontration of the decandent society in which we are leaving... Definetely a very strong message...

Keep the good work...

Cheers,

MaLuisa

I am trying to keep pace with the comments... :( Lots of work...

Cheers,

MaLuisa

Very interseting results, a bit sureel maybe. Love the photo especially the angle (ofcourse) col0rs and contrast of the buildings.

Good work!

Todd Miller   {K:16464} 2/21/2005
so it would appear you left out the first step of your technique:
-take a wonderfully framed and exposed shot (:

thanks for the explanation.

this is an excellent view Thilo; while I think in BW too it will be enhanced I reasoned about the meaning of this shot that could also be not the your; I thought about the current status of almost no value for the ONU and this has been dramatically vehiculated here. great work

Hi Aurobindo,

thanks a lot for your interest. no, the sigma is a really wide angle lens, but nothing near 180? fish eye. ;-)

here are the steps (I posted the original image above)

- general work on levels (no layers)
- adjustment layer filled with solid grey and blended with Overlay (just the sky and parts of the buildings with 50% grey)
- adjustment layer filled with solid grey and blended with "color downscaling" (not sure how this option is titled in English PS) [just the foreground and parts of the buildings]
- adjustment layer with the channel mixer, hard lights blend mode, monochrome mode with +110, -18, -18 (rgb), +4 contrast
- adjustment layer for the levels
- adjustment layers fpor saturation

hope this helps. the contrast and the color in the sky comes mainly from the channel mixer, a very powerful means.

best wishes,

thilo

hey todd,

you have a great eye - yes, this was made just minutes after the red smoke picture. the sun went away by that time.

enclosed you will find the original picture (with just a mild worked on the levels, no layers).

I will explain the technique used in the answer to Aurobinda's question.

thanks a lot,

thilo

these tones are amazing, as are the lines! this scene looks familiar...did you shoot this the same day as the red smoke picture?? well, i'm very impressed with your ability to get these kind of tones, and i'd be very curious to see the original. nice work Thilo!

Thilo,
Really cool angle here. Sky and smokestacks are great. Colors are cool also, broken down to basically 2 or 3 tones.
Nice.
