Hmmm sounds like that person wasnt so 'close' after all :( I always found doing them for 'friends' was often more stressful than some anonymous client. These days I always refer wedding requests to a good friend who actually loves wedding photography! I know hard to believe but true. And shes really good at it as well.

funny! I did one of a close friend of the family and ended up decorating, setting up, sound board, floral arranging, photos, pretty much everything but perform the ceremony, didn't get paid, NEVER again. :)

Ha, ha my sister asked me to do her wedding which really annoyed me as my family are well aware of how much I hate weddings. I think the look I gave her was enough for her to get a 'real' photographer to cover it. I just came along and snapped a few shots for myself :)

beautiful photo... I like that you said your favorite saying is " I don't do weddings" I say that too, but looks like you end up doing it for family no matter what you say, don't you? happens to me too. :) have a good weekend, Ann

Nice shot, David, great storytelling and nice tones. But I'm curious, your lens at 17mm on a digital is effectively about 25, but this looks like a much wider angle than that. What's the story?

This is an excellent black and white picture. I like the contrasts and the composition is beautiful. And as for social documentary, this photo is perfect! You can feel the nervousness of the bride.
