Tachikawa, a town that has largely become a suburb of Tokyo, has been extensively modernized, and got a monorail in the process. I was testing a new camera/lens combination, but this seems to capture the atmosphere of the place fairly well...

I think it's the shortage of land that makes monorails popular, John. You can still USE the land under the monorail... This one is a terrible money loser, though, and there is discussion of whether it should be closed down. Crazy! They just set the initial fares far too high. Get some great views FROM the monorail, though. Through glass only, unfortunately!
Good architectural shot roger, that new lens looks good to me!! I wonder why city planners like monorails, they are so much more intrusive than a simple light rail system!! But make good photos!!
for some reason, i am drawn to this image.. I think it is because of the perspective. I think the two people walking adds to the image because it contrasts with the monorail.. different types of transportation :) nicely seen.. good work
