About This photograph has always been a favourite of mine. It treads that path between reality and the surreal. It is a single exposure over two minutes duration with a five stop combination of graduated neutral density filters applied across the sky area to equalise the difference and bring it within the capabilities of Velvia to record. The sky really was this amazing colour but the effect wasn't apparent until I received the transparencies back. It is caused by clouds drifting across the setting sun, blown by a strong wind so that this wave effect is created over the two minutes or so that the shutter was open. It greatly surpassed my expectations. Please do visit my website, www.transientlight.co.uk

No doubt, also this is an amazing shot, excellent tecnique too!(I just bought a 67 II but in the meanwile just for the BW).One thing,in my opinion sometime the contrast and the color tone in your pictures are just a little too much.

wonderful use of the graduated neutral density filter... coken mount with the others put in the other slots im supposing??? wonderful caputre non the less and well thought out, cause i was wondering how you stopped the sky down enough to let the hay bails and forground to expose... wonderful

Fantastic! The long exposure has resulted in a magical and surreal sky. It seems like flames are racing across the sky.
