Wow Judi, that sounds so weird! I guess it must have been a bit frightening for your daughter too!? Congratulations on the award... this is a stunning image and well worthy of this honour. Beautiful colours and the action implied by the hair is superb! I can see how bad the 'haze' was from the sun.... eerie! Was it some kind of dust storms (I know parts of Oz do get them quite badly and experienced a small one in Alice once)? Anyway... incredible image and well done (and very brave using a camera in such obviously camera hostile conditions!).

Yes, you are right. It started out at sea and worked itself up and came across halfway through the state and we live nearly 300 kms from the sea. That's how big it was. It covered us for over 24 hours.
