Thanks for the comment, I actually used a digital camera for this. This shot was taken with night mode and the previous shot was taken with P-mode. I usually shoot with film, but this was one of the only ones I got without window glare. I wish I could more acurately portray what it was like up there, I've seen so many cityscapes like this, but actually being there brought a whole new perspective to see all the lights move and twinkle, it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. If you ever go there, then go there at night or during sunset.

Hi Mathew - you mentioned that they didnt allow you to take the tripod up the building, what film speed did you use for this and your previous shot? Well done on the award! Cheers, Ben

Fantastic!! I mean the light is captured as the light, it gives teh detail... not so dim, not overly bright. It's just right! And the cloud is wonderful, it gives the surreal impression! And there are also building fumes.... (never thought that building can emit visible fumes...) wow! Congrats on the award!

Outstanding nightscape Matthew and Nidge has hit the nail right on the head - for me too this certainly reminds me of the Sci Fi film "Bladerunner" ... one of my all time favourite movies ... guess I am a little biased lol
Best wishes, Steve

This is a real jaw dropper Matthew. The combined exposure of the sky and city scape is perfect. It reminds me of the opening scenes from Bladerunner. The detail is so sharp and shows a real 3D quality. Absolutely superb

I love it. I think it could use a little more contrast and mild sharpening. If you have too much time you could try to put in a more structured sky. But those are minor things. Its a great photo!

Hi Mathew, this is almost surreal.... The winterscene in combination with the warm, yellow tones, the buildup of the image with the skyscrapers in top and the centered perspective created by the geometric pattern of roads ending in.... the void... Awesome atmosphere. Where the feather / break in the clouds could normally make a photo tick, it's almost a pitty it's there, as it seems to be redundant with the other elements.... (Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's redundant; it's just a thought that crossed my mind; the feathers certainly are reduced in importance by the beauty of the rest....:)
Cheers,
Hugo
