About This is the first of three photos all taken using a fisheye lens at 900-year-old gardens near my home. This picture has been converted from fisheye perspective to rectilinear perspective using the shareware PanoTools "adjust" function. I attach the original fisheye perspective shot below for comparison. Although the original fisheye is less acceptable to the eye, the spatial distortion of the rectilinear projection has its problems, too. Look at the young woman's feet!

I don't mind the original fisheye look. Everyone knows that space is curved anyway. I will keep PanoTools in mind for making clown feet!

Here, as promised above, is the original fisheye perspective, before correction. Although it introduces unsettling curves where our eyes expect straight lines, the relative shapes and sizes are more faithfully preserved. Comments welcome!
