Dear Kristina, thank you so much for the link! It showed what I suspected all along - my monitor is contrasty. I cannot see details in the highlights at all and only half in the shadows, but it's okay in the midtones. So, I think I will keep it awhile. I do realize that images do look different on different screens - you can see that in any store that sells TVs - and also that some people see better in the dark or bright light than others, but I think our goal is to know our limitations or the limitations of our equipment and hopefully we have not strayed too far away from the majority.

I also like to see things in the daytime. If I have to print pictures at night, I look at them during the day to see if they are good or bad.

Many thanks!

Goodmorning Mark! Hehe... I know the feeling, I can think too many times that what if my photos look totally different on someone elses screen. So sometimes, if I come across someone elses computer I quickly check there too. Photos DO look different on screens, we can't really come away from that. There is a page you can look at and see if you see the numbers correctly:

http://www.wpdfd.com/wpdgamma.htm

For me it makes big difference if it's daytime or night if I see the page good or bad.

Thanks for the critique, Kristina. I have been wondering for quite a while now if my LCD monitor shows images a little differently than the other types, like it might be showing me great images while in reality they have lower contrast and lower color saturation. So to be sure, I print my photos first before I post them but this also does not tell me if my photos look okay when posted. Your critique reassured me that there's nothing to worry about and my photos are as they should be. Thank you very much.
Regards,
Mark

Mark, they look beautiful!! What made you think they are not? It's a wonderful photo, and they are sharp with great yellow tones. Maybe a tiny little bit to much blue in the green leafs, but that's nothing I would have noticed or thought about if you didn't ask for critique. That can easily be fixed in photoshop by chosing "selective colours" and give more yellow to the green. Normally it's better to leave a little bit more space above the flower than under, so it doesn't feel "squeezed down" while floating up. But I don't think this does. I think it's lovely!

Thanks, Icerock. Now I really have to get rid of my LCD monitor. I think it is too contrasty.
