Jerry, thanks for your comment.. the only thing I adjusted was the contrast.. as to the metering, no.. I did not have a chance... there were a lot of people walking around so I had to take my shot when I had a chance to avoid getting people in the image.. I just did a quick look via the camera as to the lighting and did not see any problems.. but I understand what your saying, it would seem there would be some lighting issues from the way I shot the image.... thanks for your comments.

Beautiful view and great textures. Definitely a 7. From a technical standpoint, I would be interested in learning how you obtained such a perfect exposure since you were dealing with the dark archway and brighter church. Did you take some type of combination exposure reading? Was there some post processing to increase/decrease the brightness of some areas? This was a difficult lighting condition and you achieved great results. Very nice photograph.

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Excedllent colors and composition. Setting the church in the arch, but a little to the right maskes for the beautiful composition.
Thank you for your kind remark on my "rainbow in Tel Aviv".

Thanks James, I see what you saying and I guess it may make the contrast better...guess I would be concerned at making the arch too dark but think either way it would work...

James Hager   {K:6285} 12/6/2004
Perfect framing with the arch. I know you said you don't like to mess with your images too much, but IMO, removing the light spot inside the right part of the arch would make this image really spectacular. Keep up the good work.

first time I see your portfolio thanks to your comment on my last shot, this frame you used here is exactly the same as the one I used in a my shot Monastero di s. Chiara in Naples taken around a year ago; light managing is excellent

Hi, thanks for your comments.. I am not sure exactly what your saying I should do.. the shutter was pretty fast already and there is only one image since I shot the church through the arch.... thanks

  0

Adilson Rodrigues   {K:1178} 12/1/2004
Paul,
Good job... I liked your idea to use one architecture to focus another one. Maybe, if you would use a faster shutter, the first image would be more dark and the constrast with the church was stronger.
Thanks for your comments to my photo.
Regards

Exemplary made architecture photo. Also the colors and the favourable light contribute also to it. In the sky unfortunately disturbing strips are to be seen. Greeting Gerhard

A just about perfect example of using an arch to frame a building. Exposure spot on, too. That didn't happen by chance. Splendid, Paul! In fact I can't think of any way in which it might be improved. That means a "7" doesn't it?

Paul's Photos Paul's Photos   {K:35235} 11/19/2004
Thanks for the comment.. glad that you like it... well, I was thinking about rotating it clockwise but then I looked more carefully at the image (esp at the foundation of the church) and thought that it was ok. For some reason, it looks likes it needs to be rotated more in the thumbnail than the actual image..anyway, it is always subjective on these kinds of perspectives :)

Hi Paul, interesting church with some really neat patterns/textures. I like it, especially like it being framed by the arch! (I'm a sucker for arches)...

I'm thinking that this could be rotated clockwise just a tad.

Good eye for this one, great image,
Lori ;)
