Fern Fiddlehead - amazing how the fractal geometry of an unfolding fern lends itself to a great photograph. I originally thought this was all DOF, but the foreground ferns act as a mask - very creative.
Good rule of thirds composition.
I like the green - almost a monocromatic effect, sort of like a black and white composition tinted green. Unintentional or not, there is a lesson in there somewhere...
Grain is a nice effect.

So then the dark area to the left is almost touching the lens ? and the lighter area in the center is background?
Besides the subject being awesome the background/foreground intrigues me as well.
This is not a shot one might see everyday....I like it allot

Wow Clifton! This is so beautiful and so lovely DOF. First I had a strange feeling of an alien. ut it disappeard quickly. But if something is both "scary" and beautiful means that?s it comes close the be sublime - don?t you think?!!!!! Very nice colours and a perfect composition. A winner!!!!!

Hi Clifton, this is beautiful. Very well composed, and the tones add alot to the atmosphere. Very good DOF, with the various levels, separating the fern from the back and foreground. Almost unreal, but very impressive shot. Outstanding shot.
