About Well that Spanish train still runs between,
Guadalquivir and old Saville,
And at dead of night the whistle blows,
And people fear she's running still...
And far away in some recess
The Lord and the Devil are now playing chess,
The Devil still cheats and wins more souls,
And as for the Lord, well, he's just doing his best...

And I said "Lord, oh Lord, you've got to win,
The sun is down and the night is riding in,
That train is still on time, oh my soul is on the line,
Oh Lord, you've got to win..."

be careful when you wager with the devil -- great capture and lyric - the composition and focus are wonderful . K

Awesome, Verena. Nice background pattern and interesting design for a chess piece. The angle you chose is great too. Congrats.

Hi Verena, I do like this capture, At first, I thought the rather high up camera position, also resulting in a quite wide DOF seemed a bit off, but looking closer, I think it works very well. The DOF is subtle enough to create a sence of depth, and I do like the composition, as well as the unusual design of the chess piece. Good choice! I have to remember this. I made a few attempts at shooting a chessboard, but none of them where as successful as this.

Re: About our project, You have a very valid point. I have to agree with you; When out shooting, it rarely springs to mind. I think we should call it off and find our own challenges in creativity and artisticity whilst stimulating eachother to do better through critiques.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Thilo,

Verena

I love it. The sharp nasty looking chess piece and the squares blurry at the back. Fantastic tones and contrast. Should be an advertisment poster for the next time Kasparov plays.

well, very good capture.
I like the DOF and the tones are superb.
Also the story (song?) is so appropriate and intense.
VEry well done.

Hi Verena,

LG,
Thilo

Seems like a bad train ride in Andalucia? ;-) Yep, it's the day for devils, hell, and chrome. hehe. Maybe because of important things happening in a big country today... enough said about that. This is very good, the composition is excellent, and it's a very beautiful work in my opinion.
