About Subject background: You see two sides of the tale. The warm, bright, soft, safe one. People living behind the safe harbour glass, enjoying the lives. And there is the dark side, OUT-side, sharp as a knife, lonely and dangerous. We all live on the edge, 24/7, just a step away from the darkness. the glasses already are dirty (as you can see on the faces)... how long will the glass function?

PS concept: BW, then changed the toning. Sharpened the foreground, made it dark. softened the background, increased lighting. Worked on the reflections to show how these people look distorted when viewing "from the other side".

As always: Comments are highly appreciated. ;-)

What a unusual image, place and to be spectataor to spectators. This chair, bottles, the windows with all that people looking in.... Excellent.

Hi Hugo,

I'm glad you liked the idea. as for the camera: I'm not switching back to the compact Pentax, but as I'm burning my pictures archives on DVD, I'm checking some of the old pictures ;-)

Hi Uwe,

Thilo

Hi Sergio,

thx for the feedback and the kind words. watching the other side is necessary, indeed ;-)

as for the subject: This was an art festival. the chair and the bottles were standing outside while the people inside were watching some sculptures and paintings.

take care my friend,
Thilo

absolutly great one...almost like you have two different compositions here, but they mix so well...for onw part the fantastic chair, from the other part the interior of the "art gallery" ....but my eys really like the way they mix...

very artistic in mood and in the idea and execution; well done; I can not judge between IN and OUT situations, apart the time the glasses will last

Hi Thilo, this is awesome! Unusual point of view; and not an expected scene. I think the tension in this shot is more important than anything else, and that's what I think makes this shot captivating. Great capture... Not much more to say....)

Cheers,

Hugo

geniales Bild

Liebe Grüße

Hi Thilo...

I love the stories you tell with your pictures...

Yes we are living in the edge... but sometimes we think we are viewing the dark side and fear it instead of going out... to the sharpened foreground... where we come to answers we have not searched before... and after the dark we come then to light again... Not with our distorted faces... but sharp as a knife where we view life in a different way...

Excellent picture Thilo... I usually do not comment this much in the pictures... but yours make me wander in very different places... and take out ideas that were dormant in my mind...

It is said that every picture has its story... I think yours tell a lot more... Thanks for sharing...

Cheers,

MaLuisa

I love how you tell us stories, your vision, how you explain us what you want to represent with your photos, and you allways achieve it.

The work done in this photo is great, where was it taken?

By the way, I'm not sure which side I like more, the "safe" one seems so unreal... :)
