Simple and elegant, with good use of selective color. The tonal gradation on the wall helps spotlight the subject.

Thanks Kurt for your comment. Likewise congradjulations with your FDotD.
This image is interesing to me because I always take pictures of the flowers I buy for my girlfriend as an ode to their beauty, and everytime I throw them away when they're completely wilted, I silently thank them for their temporary beauty. In this photo, you show that death also has its subtle beauty... it is what gives life its value.
Nice work on the desaturation.
Cheers - Gj

Thanks for your comments, Neal. I really appreciate them. I'm sure that someday technology will allow us to see much higher resolutions. Best wishes, Kurt

The desaturation of the lower leaves gives just the right touch of sadness and nostalgia. Very nice treatment. I think all our photos suffer from the size reductions and lower resolution necessary here. These aren't salon prints, after all. It's the idea that counts. And this is a great one.

Hi Hugo, so good to hear from you again, with your valued input. I actually added the grain in PS. Perhaps it was overdone. I'm never quite sure how these images will look here on UF.
Here's the untouched image straight from the scanner for comparison. Thanks, Kurt

Beautiful. Memories of the past....of what was, of what might have been, of what might still be....

Hi Kurt, Very creative shot; a bit grainy, but a very strong atmosphere. The selective colour works well, but I think the saturation in those parts could've been a bit more exaggerated... I tried to work on it some more in PS, and I noticed you applied the colour manually, which also makes it a bit messy if you tweak up the hue and saturation.... If you use the lasso selection tool, you can create a perfect outline, which makes the manual toning redundant.

I like this idea, and your thought behind it; Very creative.

Cheers,

Hugo
