Thanks Craig. Indeed, Patrick was right about the crop; like you said the petal intrudes on the privacy of this flower. The crop also makes it more intimate.

Beautiful macro Gj! The clarity and details are really fine!
I think I prefer the cropped version because of the little piece of petal in the upper left-hand corner of the original is slightly distracting.

I am happy with the composition too... but I'm bound to be biased. Most of the time I do not think of the rule of thirds. Glad that you like it.

I've always used the rule of thirds as a guidline, not as a hard and fast way of composing photography. I like this very much, I believe the use of B&W was a good choice. Your composition is very good...
