About I'd really like some views on this please. I rarely convert to mono, but I felt I needed to in this case as in colour the image seemed a bit weak somehow. I can't decide what I think about this so I'd really appreciate your thoughts - thanks for viewing.

I love the turbulence everywhere in this image. Very dramatic. I like this as a B&W, great tones, nicely cropped. Could have been a little sharper (perhaps not as sharp as RD suggested). Thanks! David

Pretty dramatic image, I wonder how high that wave is.

Like you I usually shoot in color. I usually make a decision to convert to mono if I feel that the colors in the original image do not add anything to the shot or if it detracts from the core theme of the image.

Converting to mono is often difficult, getting those tones to match the tonal ranage of a B&W is difficult. In this particular instance, I think the tones in the rocks are somewhat muddy as are the tones in the sky. I find that some selective dodging and burning is useful in getting more highlights and midtones. Some sharpening would also help to get more detail out of the rocks. I tried to do some of that with your image, I hope you don't mind.

Fabulous capture of Power Daniel, this is really great and very dramatic in B&W.

Personally, I too would have gone with B&W rather than colour. The composition seems a lot stronger this way !

Excellent photo !

Best wishes,
Steve
