hi Steve, nice image, but being too high in contrast, and over sharpened has lead to loss of detail, could also be improved by 'burning in' sky on LHS to even out tones

steve, wonderful composition! very moody. i can certainly see what douglas is saying. the shadows are a bit strong. if we follow the rules, he would be correct. however, i can also see why you broke the rules and did it anyway. and let me tell you, it works! excellent photo! i esp. like the similarity in disposition between the cloud and tree. very well done!

The saturation leads to a high but dramatic degree of shadows relinquishing the great value of a wide range of Black & White tones which I greatly cherish and so would Ansel!

Oh, and Douglas, I think that saturated ISO 100 color slide films, by virtue of their high resolution and contrast, are ideally suited for B&W conversion.

Steve,
You 'cheated' with the Kodak Elite Chrome EBX 100, but I have performed 'conversions' also because many images work both ways if you have the right shot to do so ... Right?
Congrats for your award and I see that you are still doing very well on PN with both versions and others.
