Good use of flash here, only real comment is the brides dress is a little burnt out, very difficult with white i know, maybe could have under exposed by half stop and then brought the photo back in photoshop, Did you use a polarising filter ? bad idea for wedding dresses. Otherwise a great shop, keep it up.

Larry, sorry I am so late in getting back to you to thank you for you very kind words and advice. It was a bit rude of me, I apologize...
Your advice is very good, and taken to heart especially since you have 'been-there and done-that'. I appreciate that you took the time and have added me to your friends list (I have done the same...).
I posted an update in the original thread I started on the forum. If you have time you can check it out.
I also posted three more shots (candids) which I'd be very interested in hearing any comments on from your experience.
Honestly, as I shared with another person I am feeling kinda blah about my work and the wedding shots in particular. I think there is something major lacking in them and that they reak of 'amateurism' and have an ugly look about them. I'm not looking to get stroked here, just being trying to be honest with myself about my current abilities...

I would turn bride and groom 3/4 to one another, with groom offering his left arm, as to escort; bride's arm thru this arm. w/flowers in her left hand, low, almost arm's length. Then younger boy place his hands, slightly cupped, to his sides also.
I have taken candid weddings for 40 years. I would not take a formal picture with any male unless his hands were at sides (groom excepted of course) and other people in wedding party 3/4 toward b/g.
I have put you in My Friends list as I want to follow what you are doing. :-))

OOPS! Debby, I almost forgot re: the 20D...
My background consists of a Canon AE-1 and the 300D so moving up to the 20D has been a wonderful experience.
It has proven to be all that I expected and more. It is fast and very accurate in focusing and has a great feel to it. I was thankful to have it for this shoot.

Debby, I greatly appreciative of your wonderful suggestions and comments. I am very 'new' to shooting weddings and do not have the professional eye to pick up things like you mentioned. I did this as a favor and also to gain experience to see whether this would be something I would be interested in pursuing as a photographer. If I do decide to pursue wedding photography I would first try to find a pro I could apprentice under or assist so I might gain the eye to see the type of things you mentioned.
I am starting a notebook of thoughts and ideas regarding this type of shooting and your suggestions will definately be added to it!

Anthony, Please accept our humble advice. My hubby has shot over 700 weddings in a 20-year period. Anyway, you should always ask the men to put their hands at their sides - not crossed in front of their lower body. Also, we usually have the bride and groom put their back arms around one another. It draws them closer in the photo. You did center the shot very well, the lighting is good and the background is very attractive. Keep up the good work. How do you like the Canon 20D? We have a 10D, but shoot weddings with a Bronica. We're just adding candid digital shots to our wedding packages. ~~ Debby
