Could u at least explain whats "not good" about the image!!
I don?t mind critique in fact I do appreciate giving and receiving constructive comments and critique because they help both sides and teach them a lot, but "not good" is not constructive and its not polite!
I don?t know what r the consequences of clicking the "abuse" button so if anyone knows what it dose please tell me

Rawabiiiiiiiii
this is a great idea!!! A friend of mine asked me to take casual family portraits of her husband, her boy and of course she would be in the pictures and im really nerves, I'll go to her place after Eid and I started reading a lot bout portraits and lighting! I thought about placing a white big sheet on the floor close to the white wall have them all dress up in the same colors and after they relax I just start shooting but I was wondering about the light! I'll try your idea
And another idea I've read long ago about covering the lens with pantyhose it should work as a filter and reduce shadow
Sorry I haven?t replied earlier I just saw ur comment :">
missed u

Arwa, while this is an improvement, raising the white level has blown out the linen texture you had successfully captured across the face.

If you'd like to e-mail me the shot, I can show you a compromise that would reveal the eyes without blowing out the whites.

very nice shot.. i like the composition :)
you know? if you're out of resources try using a shiny surface "mirror or something" as a reflector to reflect sunlight into her face and brighten it instead of falling in the shadows of the scarf :)

Dear sally
islam gave women the freedom of choice
there r many different ways that women can wear their cover in any way they feel suitable

This young lady was in makkah just coming back from the mosque which means shes a "Muslim girl"!

If the choice of covering her face was completely heres then who r we to judge her for her believes?

Its about time we leave the small details, of covering or not covering and pay attention to the greater issues

Thanx for your honest opinion and comment :)

Salam Arwa:
Cong-ra-tes. I like image, and tones. I really don't like the tittle, it gives the bad impression about Islam and Muslims. As muslim females "yes" they have to cover the hair "hijab" but not the face. Again i would have chosen a diff tittle.
Good job and keep it up.

very nice composition and nice grain and sepia. i think it needs a slight frame and i dont see the title fits the image becuase covering face never been an indication for Islam and also she looks like a woman more than a girl. thanks

Hi Arwa, I love the grain and tone in this one, but I think the close up composition is even better. Excellent shot, and I agree with brightening up the eyes, as they add the finishing touch. Very well done, and a powerful shot.

Cheers,

Hugo

To adjust your photo, I did the follows:
1. I duplicate the photo, creating 2 copies in 2 layers.
2. I used the caussian blue to the duplicated layer and used the screen blending mood.
3. After i got the lighten i wanted i merged both layers.
4. I duplicate the layer once again and I added some sharpness, using filter > others> high pass, i cant remember the number i used ;-) the i used the overlay mood.
5. As for the framing i used also an extra layer, filled it with black then i cropped it.

I know it is confusing, but once you get used to it you will be super ;-)

am trying to post this comment from ages now..hope it works now
Hi Arwa... am glad that you like the adjustment I did. Photoshop is very interesting program. First of all you have to learn the different functions and the use of layers and filters, as soon as you will learn the basics it will a peace of cake ;-). Personally, I learn every thing from free tutorials on the internet there are plenty of them. Please find a link below in Arabic teaching the basics of Photoshop, it is all the same weather you are using PS 7 or 6

hi arwa, it's good with more details on her face. somehow it looks like different image, she does look a bit apprehensive - due to your D70+lens LOL. I like also the work of Amna :).
now you have PS7, sometimes I used image - adjusment - shadow/highlight, which you can apply to the face only (select before). cheers, cessy

guess your right Stephen I think she really felt nervous when I pointed the D70 at her, if someone pointed a camera at me I would be thinking " damn I want to see how I look like in that pic :P" hehehehhee

Dear amna
Thank you so much for understanding my need to fix this image till perfection
Your editing looks super! I know it?s a bit soft around the eyes maybe I should have used different aperture sitting
Can u tell me how u fixed it, I just got photoshop 7 and im lost I don?t know how to use it
And how did u do the frame??
Thanx again amna
(((hugs)))

Another good photo Arwa and she does look very different now. I agree with Lori, she does look a little aprehensive - but I think that adds to the character of the photo :-)

Great capture and very good work in PS to bring the detail out :-)

Best wishes,
Steve

Good morning Arwa,
When I saw that you posted this photo again, I said to myself you must love it or you wont bother asking for advice over and over again, which is something I like about you mashall?Allah.
I took the original photo and tried to work on it , I tried to lighten the face without loosing the original color of the skin , even though it is still not perfect and a bit soft . Hope you will like it

Have a great day
Amna
