you succeded to make a picture which is really emotional the woman plays great..of course the colours are ok but additionally you have good balance of forms, grain in front and the messy sand moved by feet behind them, this looks very nice. one of your best shots definitely

Hi Licia,
thanks for the comment. Well, I shot this while they were posing during an advertising photo session for a resort. I worked for the resort's ad agency at the time and, since I love photography and the photographer was a friend, I couldn't resist taking my camera together...
That's why they're not tuned to my camera.

Hi Johan,
well, what would be of yellow if everybody loved only blue, isn't it?
After spending some time admiring your images, I see our concepts of "fashion" are somewhat different. You seem to be more turned to classic images while I prefer to see it in real life and also experience more even when on the studio.
Your stating that this serie "still looks like a snap" reflects exactly this. Since this was also the intention of these images to look like, I believe, by your opinion, that the objective was reached.
Now, regarding Mr. Ritts an Mr. Weber, all I have to say is:
- I NEVER mentioned Mr. Ritts. Please, review my previous comment. Since he never shot this kind of images, it wouldn't make any sense to quote his work.
- Regarding Mr. Weber, I still mantain everything I've said. And please note that I NEVER said I had the pretention to mimic his work. Maybe you can't see any relation on how he could've been a source of inspiration because you may have more access to his american work than to what he's been doing in europe for years, specially for the italian Vogue. I can't blame you for that. Recently I believe he did an amazing essay for GQ, can't remember if it was the american or english edition. Should it be of interest, do a little search. Of course also, there's another BIG difference - I'm shooting friends on a trip to a photo session. Mr. Weber is being paid to shoot models, has an incredible production team, YEARS of experience, an unique eye, a vision and directing capability that makes many photographers around feel like an idiot. I'm a great fan of his work for a long time. Have you seen a special he did for Calvin Klein with Carré Ortiz and the Hell's Angels on San Francisco? AMAZING! I truly believe he would see good stuff on this serie, specially considering the conditions.
If you can't see any good stuff here John, it means only that our ideas of fashion images are quite different. Your portfolio shows it. I won't dare to say my vision is better or not, there's no point on it. They're just different.
As I see, you prefer yours. Nice. Differences help create new visions of things. Dare more, experiment more, make more mistakes, live more. You'll love it!
Regards,
José Azevedo
