Love it. Love the fact that you managed to portray the shadow twice as frightening as the spider itself. Lots and lots of great images in your portfolio with a lot of variety which I really admire and appreciate.

Regards, Magnus

Don't know what kind it is, but don't want to mess with it, or it's shadow. Who knew a spider had such a shadow? Great composition with the shadow. -- Debby

Excellent, John, love the way you included the shadow. My skin's crawling, though, gotta run ...

Looks like an "Argiope" or common "garden spider" John. Harmless, although it doesn't look it. In reality there are very few spiders that are harmful to humans. The bright colours are nature's way of scaring off preditors, but I still like to keep my distance. Great shot by the way. Check out the spider in my portfolio.

Well its not a Brown Recluse spider that one is a bad unit. usually the bad ones you find camped in the bottom of your slippers and shoes you leave outside. if you want to read and see photos of the brown recluse john, send me an email and I'll return the pictures and story to you. My address is on my home page here.
I agree the spider should be in the shadows catagory as well. nice colors and good detail, but don't know what it is

I don't know what kind it is, but it seems it made you hit the capslock button, that it is beautiuful and probably poisenous.
The photo is "Creepy", just as its caption and the shadow adds to its being crepy.
Thanks for your comment on my "I'll beat them all".
The boy assumed the position when he saw me attempting to take his photo. His father, who owns the small diner in the background told us the the boy had insisted to have his hair died.
Regards,
Rafi

Awesome shadows. But I HATE SPIDERS Lol We call this a garden spider. I'm not sure what the proper name is..though if he were in MY yard I'd call him DEAD lol Nice capture.
