About A beautiful sunset on 'Iceberg Alley' - Antarctica - I'd just finished my seabird observing work for the day... brilliant! Difficult shot also, as it was getting dark (11.45pm), and the ship was moving... Critiques welcomed.

Hi Alison,

Your husband must have a fascinating life, but I can imagine being a long way away would be frustrating at time!

I do hope you make it down south one day, it is an amazing place.

Best wishes,
Alice.

Hi Alison,

Thanks for your comment. I was working on R.S.V. Aurora Australis. An Australian icebreaker, which is used by the Australian Antarctic Division for "Research and Supply". Mostly used for transporting necessities and personnel to the Australian Antarctic bases Casey, Davis, and Mawson, in addition to marine science research off the coast of Antarctica.

Have you been "Down South"?

Best wishes,
Alice.

How on earth do you get these gigs??? more importantly, are you selling your soul for them, or getting paid? Beautiful Shot! I have some ones from the north east coast of Newfoundland (Twillingate) of some monster iceburgs that flow from the northpole, this is awesome!

having read your bio... it makes me think... I have a film producer as a good friend who recently was invited in appreciation of his work by national geographic to baffin island... quite the opposite pole to you... I was to join him...

I will have to spend some time passing your pics and visulising one 24 year old back packing amongst the bergs near a continent that is virtually 97% ice!
Compliments!

What a beautiful view! I think the shot turned out very well considering the time of day and exposure required. You're making the most of what must be an interesting experience working in a place like that. I wonder how many photos there are here from Antarctica!

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique very nice 'dreamy' picture with wonderfull tones and soft focus... the soft focus is really a virtue because after applying an unsharp mask, the colour tones are retained, but the edges change like this:

Hello Gustavo, thank you for your lovely comments. I did not use a tripod, as I did not have time! I ran to get my camera, and used the hand-rail on the ship to help steady camera, but the ship vibrates!!! Still, soft-look has a good effect I think! Cheers, A.

beijos
