Hi Trish
Good comment. It was not as if the dog was in any real danger as far as I could tell. As you say, he simply was desperate to get out to run around play from my perspective. Even still, I think it's probably a little cruel to have him fenced in when he obviously wants to run about. But I agree with you, he probably did not need to be "rescued"!
Thanks, Nat

Ok I'm not sure I am understanding everyones comments here about your photo.
from what I see is two dogs. and the one peeking it's head out looks like he wants out from behind the fence like most crazy dogs wanting to go wander the streets. just wants to escape for a while but doesn't want to loose his home.
So what is really going on before you took the shot? the story behind it all. And of course I find this shot very outstanding and an award winning shot for sure. very photojournalistic.

how do you rescue the dog without breaking the law? surely taking the photo is a way of raising public awareness about cruelty to animals without jeopardising all that you stand to lose by ending up with a criminal record. the dog was funny in a cute sort of way, not that the situation it was in was amusing.

this dog is apperently having pain.. (or at least it looks like that).I would have rescued him/her instead of taking this photo..or I would not laugh either..
