About This is Oshinomura, a little village near Mt. Fuji that has transformed itself into a tourist Mecca. The young couple walked in front of my remote-controlled camera JUST after I pushed the button. But although blurred, I think they add to the picture. (You should see the detail on a 3,700 x 1,000 pixel display! Wowee!!) There are no prizes for spotting me. This is another 360-degree panorama designed for "Virtual Reality" viewing.

You spotted me, Bertram. That vest is a multi-pockted thing (the kind used by fishermen and photographers). Useful for lens caps, filters, rolls of film, etc. It's mesh, so not too hot in our sultry summers.

Hi Roger,

I was probably too busy to go with you anyway, but now I have more free time. It's not the best season for photos though. Maybe you can come here again in the Fall.

About the concert, yes, I'm interested. Could you give me your email address again (I may have lost it) so we can discuss the terms in private? Mine is music@thn.ne.jp.

My new organ CD has just been released by the way.
You can listen to sample tracks if you like here:

Regards,

Craig

If this is 360 degrees, you must be somewhere to be seen with the remote control. At the rhs, the man with that vest ?? Stunning thing.

Hi, Craig. I would have contacted you and looked you up (we visited Shiraito no taki), but we were the other side of Fuji for most of the time, and I didn't know where Matsukawa San was going to take me until the day before... Now he has been posted to Shanghai, and I won't have company on my photo expeditions for much longer...

We have an organ in our church. Would you like to give a concert? We could guarantee a capacity crowd of about 90 to 100! What do you charge?

Hey Roger, I have some friends who live in a thatched roof house right near where this shot was taken! I want to back when there is losts of snow and get some good shots of Mount Fuji! I will be passing by there next Saturday, so I may stop for a while.

Sorry to hear that, Roger. I hope you get somewhere with your latest request.
Best regards, Chris

Hi Keith. The URL is the one I thought I gave you earlier. It was working within an hour or two of that message. But maybe you didn't read that one? Try www.adex-japan.com/roger/

There's only the one there at the moment. Until I get my own site going, www.rogerama.jp (ahem!), I will just replace the featured jpg as I create new ones, so the latest one will usually be there... The latest one (of the tourist village street) only really works as VR. I think it doesn't "fly" as a picture on its own, despite the kind comments...

The cursor keys, and the "+" and "-" keys will scroll and zoom... Enjoy!

Hi Roger, I'd love to see the VR option too. Sounds like you gave Hugo a link to try - post it here so we can all go look, then we can badger Altef when we see just how good it can be ;_)

Roger..very nice indeed..and that virtural touring is very cool...At one point I used a virtual tour camera to shoot homes for sale so I am assuming this is sort of like that....

Thanks for the encouragement, Chris. My problem is I have never, ever had any encouragement of any kind, nor even a satisfactory answer, from Altaf about making Usefilm more hospitable for panorama photographers, and that long, lovingly written article on the subject that I wrote has been removed from the site and there are no signs of it being reinstated, (I've ASKED). My friend thinks he was removed for saying that Site X is better than Usefilm (the comment was removed, too). I know this is enough to get you thrown off PhotoNet. I am pretty near the point of saying Sites X, Y and Z are better than Usefilm for panoramas. And I don't want to get slung off. At the moment my repeated question is being ignored. As is the suggestion that VR would make a nice addition to the site.

Timing must be especially critical when taking these shots in busy places, Roger.
I think you're right about the couple on the right ~ fortunately they're towards the edge.
This is another wonderful panorama ~ is this available as a VR on your other site? I'd love to see it if it is!!
Kind regards, Chris
P.S. I read your forum entry about disqualification ~ it would seem a little draconian to ban anyone for mentioning another site!! I don't think that's the way it is, for I mention my Photobase page in my bio!!

I'm glad you enjoyed VR. Since, if used on Usefilm, it would not interfere with the enjoyment of people who DON'T want to see VR (or who choose not to enable Java), I have asked a question about this in the Suggestions forum. If you think this is a good idea, please add your voice to the discussion.

The stitch SHOULD be a perfect match--they all come from the same negative! It's just that I can't scan the huge neg all at once...

Hi Roger, I enjoyed the VR environment you send me the link of. It places the scene into perspective, and sure gives an awesome sight in the large resolution. I liked the stich, too. Almost a perfect match! I guess this shot is done more justice at that size too. Very intriguing image, as I still struggle with assessing the environmental geometry... Nice one!

Cheers,

Hugo
