Hi Lars,
I can only assume that the lines in the sand dunes are a natural phenonemum and not man made, but aquired by the wind. I find that the way they lead the eye towards the focal point of the image, which being the main cloud formation (the one with the dark arrow shape :-))is enspiring. This arrow shape now draws the viewers eye directly into the dramatic skyline which then encourages the viewer to circumnavigate the whole of the skyline, and then via the light in the cloud formation to the right of the image bringing the viewers eye back down to the foreground.
The foreground is now an intense burst of gold which compliments the silver and grey of the the skyline which is also juxtaposed by the shadows of the dunes.
Whether or not this being intentional, it is certainly inspriring and dramatic.

Didn't the sceptics notice both the lighting and the shadows from the foreground and skyline are coming from the same angle and direction? The angle of lighting being extremely difficult to manipulate to such perfection it would not be worth your while!

Fanatstic image, my congrats.

Regards..........Phil

Hi Walt. Thats a nice site you have there, I'd be happy to be linked :-D

Thanks to all who've commented! And thanks for the BIP award ;-)

This is not a composite photo. The sky was not inserted, but I did alter the contrasts using a level-layer (with included layermask). I used a colorbalance layer to change to tone. And as a result of the underexposure (I had to do that to get keep some details in the sky) I had to deal with alot of noise (neatimage on gentle settings). I'm glad so many liked this photo :-D
