I'll bet the print showed more detail in the highlights. But to me it matters not at all. This medium, at 72 ppi with a maximum dimension of 800 pixels, is just too crude for subtlties. I think what's important here is the basic idea and your Skull Art series is brilliant. We can supply the missing tones from our imaginations, but we cannot duplicate your vision and your creativity. I think your photos are just great.

Jim, Thanks for the critique. I tend to go a little "contrast" crazy sometimes. Gotta adjust my screen, I think. I print alot of inkjet and lightjet prints, so I want them real rich! I try to shoot the originals very flat for detail and then work up or down from there. :)

Very nice presentation although a little much for my taste. What is most noticable to me with this photo is the hot midtones. Adjusting the levels of your image to mute your midtones a bit would help balance the detail of your highlights and shadows. As is I think the detail of your shadows is greater at the expense of the detail in the highlights. See the image I've uploaded to see the difference. Although the differences maybe subtle they are there. Hopefully you'll see the difference.

Laurie,
Great. How much photoshop are you using? Love your work. Mike.
