Fantástico registro de rua! Gosto muito dos tons! Um grande abraco, Renato

Dear Matej,
Many thanks for your insightful analysis of this photo. You may imagine that I stood there for a while and took more than one frame of this same corner. In other pictures we can see some people's faces but what made me like this particular one best is the exact fact that everyone seems to be oblivious of my presence. I can tell you from experience that this is something difficult to happen, specially being a westerner and, most of all, holding a camera.
To me, the main subject of interest is the scene as a whole and not any particular face. The life in a small hidden alley in a small forgotten village in HK. People minding their own business and doing what they are supposed to do in a market, shopping.
Thanks again.

The people here take up a lot of the frame and this makes them play an important role in the image. The problem is that we can't see anyone's face, which makes it difficult to get drawn into the image in terms of trying to determine what the people are looking at, thinking, feeling, etc. If the woman on the left had been facing towards the camera, the fact that the others are turned away would establish a sense of the individual's isolation in the city. She would have been the main subject, and her expression the primary point of interest. As it is now, the composition suggests that the main character is the man with hands behind his back. Unfortunately, looking at a person from behind does not hold my interest for very long.
