About facing south from the mesquite dunes in death valley national park. i think this will be the first entry in my "impressive skies" database ;^) hey, it seems this is a valid "form" of photography, so why not?

this is one of the first shots i took with my new 12-24mm DX. once again, immense loss of quality and detail in resizing. no PS except for frame and resizing. shot with monopod and ISO 200. any comments, artistic or technical, greatly appreciated.

Abolutely flawless composition! Not a hint of noise anywhere. The proportion of sky and land is imho perfect. Quality-wise, only the lower left corner gets somewhat blurry(for lack of a better word)as seen on the face of the mountain. Like you said, must be the resizing. But the sky is incredible.

Thank you for your comments on the red caboose; you must do Rhyolite in your future outing. I'm interested in how you approach it from your perspective on things. Regards,

Mark

Wow Tom.....
This is excellent.
The cloud formation and colors are awesome.
The shadows cast onto the mountains from the clouds give a nice tone change.
Very impressive !
My complements.

This one has a lot of movement in the clouds - just the way I like it.

Hi Tom, Awesome sky! I like this composition, it is IMO well balanced, and the gradient in the shadows in the mountain ridge is perfect. That creates the tension in this shot.

The deep, vibrant tones are absolutely my style. In retrospect to our previous discussions, this must be as close to the reality too, but this time, it is also what I would expect in such a landscape.

Very impressive shot... Not much I would change / done differently. (that's a new one!...;o)

Cheers,

Hugo
