About Constructive comments are, as usual, very much appreciated...

I decided to leave this image virtually unchanged, as I like the grainy effect, created by the digital zoom of my C5050z. I also deliberately left it in colour, as I think the soft early morining light adds more to this image than a B&W or sepia. Hope you agree....;o)

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Emgy, It sure is a pity of all those people swithing to other sites.... Mary Bell, Thamer T, and many others... At least it is a lively community, with lots of other photographers joining too...

Have a fabulous trip, and take care,

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Hugo, thank you!
Besides Dutch, I can speak and write English, Italian, French and German reasonably well.
P.s. I won't be able to comment on your work for a while cause I'm going on a 15 days holiday to Northen Africa. I'm telling you, just so that you won't think I disappeared from UF for good, like many other users did.
I'll see you again in a couple of weeks

Hi Emgy, Again, thank you very much for your elaborate comments. They are very much appreciated, and help me alot in continuing my experiments... The grain is not so much a deliberate decision, but more an effect of the poor quality of the Olympus C5050z digital zoom.

Just curious: How many languages do you speak? I notice you are also able to comment in italian, and your English is / seems flawless.

Cheers,

Hugo

hugo, this should read "make sure there is no rust or holes on the cowl" ;^) KLM flight? they scare me ;^)

this is very static. and centered ;^) but i like it. simple and straightforward. the curvature shows very well and adds to the photo. if this was a flat surface i don't think it would work well.

take care,
tom

After tasting your experimental floral shots, you decide to go for a touch of abstractism in a minimalistic composition. And why not? Always worth trying different things. It is surprising and refreshing. I like this one and I agree with your choice of leaving it in colour. B&W probably makes it chill and sepia... well not a version I would choose for an abstract. The lighting is just beautiful, although I'm not quite sure about the grain. But this is a matter of personal taste. I'm not very fond of "grainy" images, especially when the grain shows the green/red colours.
Nevertheless, this is a very nice abstract and I like your idea for this new series of yours.
Hugs - Emgy

Sorry Verena, I misread your first comment... And, yes, a tad more contrast would've probaly been nice.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Hugo,

as I said, colour is the better choice here, totally agree with you here, but I still like a higher contrast in this pic.

But luckily it is your pic - your choice!

Anyway I really like it!

Cheers,
Verena

Hi Verena, I know you'd rather see this one in B&W. That's one of the things I like about your work, as you (mainly) use B&W, whereas I'm more of a colour person.... The contrast is lacking, but it was before 8 am, and the engine was lit by the early sunset. Still, you have a point. Maybe a harder contrast would've been better. Is this more what you mean? (I did consider it, but decided against it for the reasons I've mentioned in my description)

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Hugo,

b&w wouldn't be the best choice here IMHO, missing high contrast...

The markings around the doors looks a bit unsafe, or? And we trust in airplanes almost every day.

BTW, Finland was very interesting and pics are upcoming. New PC is delivered and installed today, yep!!

Cheers,
Verena

Hi Rob, As always I value your opinion...) Any suggestions on how to improve it or why this one doesn't appeal to you? I'd appreciate your insight...

Hi Bobby, Thanks for your reply. I took this series to see if I could create an abstract and well balanced composition with simple means. I only took three of these, and, ofcourse, the overview. It was an experiment at composition.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply. The "other" one would not fit within this triptych. The goal of this series was to try something "new", and to create a well balanced composition with simple means...

Cheers,

Hugo

May be a good use for front "pilot external check lists", I can not put this part of A/C door panel, in any photo category, but nice idea, Saeed

Unusual and pleasant to my eyes. I like the very well balanced composition and that light reflection on the right that adds vitality to this nicely seen abstract.

The capture is OK and your explanation creates an added interest. But as photo IMHO not exciting to look at. Regards, Rob. Thanks for your last comment to my photo about the civil guard.

An usual shot, but a great one...clean and elegant. I?d crop it a little, Hugo,as Nuno has said, dots on left coner are a bit disturbing to me.
It?s good to illustrate differences between digital and film photographing, too.
Thank you for your comment..I was waiting for your always sincer opinion... is important to me.
Cheers,
Carmem

What i like about usefilm is the diverse ideas people can have about an image. So from an Abstract picture you can receive comnents as generic and vague as a coment buy Paula Abdul in american idol...great cover for electronic music...I though it was one of the mexican army's UFO shots...Certainly an unusual shot...I belive that when something egnerates such a diverse list of coments...its art...so many ideas from the same Picture. Now, my coment... i liek teh litle detais...the central dots and then the disperse dotos on the top left corner of the picture. I like the grain effect cause by the zoom overwall is a nice image that you Huga as getting used to see from you ( i can be generic to ) Nice work as usual. regards

I'm with Gerhard on this one Hugo.
Certainly an unusual shot and, if I'm really honest, I think I prefer the one you added later ~ which i think deserves an upload in its own right!
Kind regards, Chris

Hi Hugo,

Great abstract. You had me guessing that it was and no until I enter and saw the whole engine I realize it. Very good, I like it a lot!!!

Congratulations my friend.

Be seeing you...

Raamses.

Great photo Hugo !

A somewhat strange photo this one. From the thumbnail I thought it was one of the mexican army's UFO shots. This due to the reflective spot. I'm not sure what to think of it, but I do agree with BB.. It would do quite nicely on a cd..
