A different, but brilliant view of the worlds most famous bridge. This is, as you point out, a new perspective and it works very well for me personally. It is however not too hard getting a decent shot of this landmark, but this stands out in a crowd. The use of b/w gives this shot a little extra in addition to the brilliant exposure.

A magnificent shot that sends you straight into my list of friends

Thanks for your comment on my Golden Gate Bridge picture, Douglas. I see from this award winner that you have taken some pictures of it too. I can't say much about this picture other than, "great job!" It is a nice combination of nature giving you a good opportunity and you making the most of it with good timing and a good eye. The composition is great and I really like the black and white treatment.

This seems to be a good conversion from your earlier colour post of the same shot. Did you shoot the same scene twice, once on black and white film and once on colour, or are you just messing with our heads by changing the film details when you repost a converted shot?

Martin.

hi douglas,

this is a GREAT view of the GG. so probably BW is the way to go here, as I was really disappointed with the bridge in the night ;-)

nice catch of the clouds here.

Ah HAH!! LOL...now I remember!
I did put a GGB on but never got a nice one like yours! Nothing at all spectacular, and it wasn't in black and white. Had I converted it to b&w, you wouldn't have seen the bridge!! OH WELL, maybe next time!!
Lori ;)

(You have a good memory!!)

Much better in B+W. Conveys the mysterious nature of the fog more effectively. Composition on this shot is superb.

Luther Chong   {K:3585} 6/3/2004
This is a great photo.

It conveys a peaceful mood, like a photographic sleeping pill, with the perspective of the bridge as it disappears into the fog.

B/W is a great choice. The color version which adds a bit of blue sky is not a powerful as the B/W.

Peggy Christine Skinner Peggy Christine Skinner   {K:26936} 6/3/2004
This is awesome Douglas. The heavy fog, the silhouette of the bridge, the silvery glow on the water at the right, beautiful. All combine to make a wonderfully eerie image with a sort of magical light. Permission to save, print, frame and hang on my wall, please. A nice soft brushed nickel frame, to match my black & silver family room. I have not seen the coloured version yet but am in love with the B/W.

Everything is very creative about this work - the composition, the angle of view, monochromatic tone. By the way, it is much more impressive in B&W. To me it deserves the highest grade.

I liked the colored one, and I sure like this B/W version, maybe even better, as this version gives a grapic view, were colors don't draw ones attention away from the overall picture - great work!!!
