Hey Carlheinz, Love this shot. The colours and feeling is quite eerie. Love the contrast between the very corporate builing and the "street scene". If you're at all interested in graffiti you should check out Barcelona some day - a photographers dream! I went to the link Rik sent you and she is no longer showing the work - bummer. Talk soon, Erin

Hi Rik! FRIGHTENING!!! The subjects are awesome; a photo-heaven for me. But not for a Million, I would go there. Thanks for the link. I will "share" that with others. We have to face the truth. Atomic energy isn't safe, nowhere in the world.

Carlheinz...Great effects... you got a handle on this process. I see another comment about radioactive town... made me think of a web-site you GOTTA go look at. Here is the location. http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/ A young Ukrainian girl with a Kawasaki Ninja rides through the "dead-zone" around the Chernobyl Nuclear Facility and the "Ghost Towns" that are in the area. She takes photos... one hand a Geiger-Counter and the other the camera. She rides along, or next to another rider... never behind anyone, as to not eat radioactive dust. Check it out.... eerie! Regards, Rik

Hi Stefan! I get most of the green with the Fuji from my lab with a surprising constancy. Sorry, I don't like to show the original slide. It is not that I want to make a secret out of it. The musicians under us understand that. It's like presenting a song which isn't finished. The original looks like an overexposed image with a green shift. But you can ask me all about it. I'm happy to answer your questions.

Mad dream like effect due to the X-processing I guess! Cool placement of the tower and building to the left in relation to the graffiti. Awesome colurs too! Excellent! Cheers Alan

Yes this one has your sig on it. How much do you have to push the green to get this? Would you show the original scan?

Hi Carlheinz, Thanks for the explanation. It does ring a bell, but I've never actually experimented with it myself. Didn't know it was called X-processing in English. A very intersting technique! Will try that someday!
Cheers,
Hugo.

Cool color pictures. I love it. The saturation and the color range goes very well with the street atmosphere of the pictures. The black corner goes well with the dirty look of the scene. good job.

Hi Hugo! X-processing is basically simple. You just develop the film with the wrong chemistry. Means either a slide in C41 or a negative in E6. First find a lab, that's the hardest part. They will think you're nuts. To boost the contrast, you need to push the film 1-4stops depending on the light situation. I usually push 1-2 stop in the lab and do light corrections during the shoot. After a while you get a feeling for that. To get the total freak show you can work with tungsten film, color filters or expired film. You know now, why I'm still analog? Well, after I get my results, I do a lot of PS and try to multiply the impression I had from the location/subject. You know what I mean? Hope this helps! Need more? Just ask!!!

Hi Carlheinz, I was just commenting on this photo when I received yours... So I'm still in time to say that this one is quite freightning too... But in a completely different way, I think. Whereas I "report" an atmosphere, you create one. I'm not familiar with X processing, but the effect is awesome. Could you please give me some info on it?
I like these kind of places too. Not around there, often, though. Very creative shot, and absolutely intriguing. Most of all I like the extreme tension you've created with the unreal use of colours. Impressive!
Cheers,
Hugo
