WoW
It's amazing that you were able to follow the sparrow in flight let alone focus on it. I don't think I've ever seen a photo like this. Yes humming birds, but they have the ability to stay in one place. very nice photo!!!

Outstanding Wildlife shot Jim! Perfect focus, exposure and the timing was extraordinary.

Can I get more details please? How were you set up? Hand held or tripod? AI servo mode? Did you use a flash?

Once again fabulous image. My Congrats on this one!

Hey John, wonderful shot, it takes a photographer and a sniper in the same time to get such a result, and you are both my friend, thump up.

Wow. You've turned one of the most common of birds into an artpiece. I'm in awe of this shot. Great composition (however inadvertant much of it necessarily is with an action shot), and the light and pattern of the wing feathers is beautiful. Brilliant work, John. Bravo!

Dan Arthur   {K:4280} 4/21/2004
John, Incredible photo here and great use of the 1D! The combination of large aperture, fast shutter, and focus are outstanding (should be an editor's choice!!!). Very impressive detail. I'm a fan of using a shallow DOF and you've managed that well here. When I first looked at this, I thought the color seemed a bit blue (?), but after further examination - I'm figuring that it my eyes and not your photo... Great work! Regards, Dan

These guys don't stand still for you, your detail on this action shot is great.
You shallow dof really help bring this bird into great focus.
Great Job !
