Excelent dear Verena! Somehow it is confused... but it is a well planed mess... Total domination of light... The lack of shadows would be a cause to flatten the image... But the set of different lines gives volume to the composition... I like it!

Thankyou for the info Verena (as I'm saving up for a 10D !). Your work in PS elements is outstanding, wish I could award you another 7 for that :-)

@Stephen, I learned that the 10D doesn't have a b&w function, so I did it in PS, but still I have only PS elements, as PS fullversion has a better way to change colour into b&w, I ordered one...

lets see if it works better then...

Cheers,
Verena

Outstanding architecture Verena - I wonder if the B&W was at the camera or via PS ??

Once again, you might be right. Then again, luckily photography is something subjective...;) What I did in PS is quite easy:

I copied the entire image onto a new layer
Set the top layer to "Multiply"
Increased the brightness.

The contrast was induced by the "multiplying", similar to a longer exposure in printing B&W images. I could've ajusted the opacity to end up somewhere in between, but it does show what I mean....

Cheers,

Hugo

@Hugo,

lets see when we meet in the middle of our opinions ;)

more contrast is not such a bad idea in here,
but in my opinion you did a little bit too much here... perhaps a middle value, I will give it a try.

I'm still not sure what I can do after taking the original photo, in the past I wasn't willing to do any changes in PS, except the framing, but more and more I learn that the darkroom job can do also analog magic to every negative...

I will start to do and play more there...

Now I will get from Ebay the PS 6.0, until now I worked with PS Elements, and there I'm lacking some important functionalities, e.g. the channel mixer.

Will see how it works after this delivery!

Cheers,
Verena

This image caught my eye so I just had to look...what better tribute to an image than =
" I just had to look" I like the tones as is and I really do like the use of of all those lines angles and curves. Well done. K

Hi Verena,

Good contrast between title and subject. The composition and use of geometry is as strong as ever, but i think it lacks the dramatism of light.

We've discussed contrast before, and although tonal range and contrasts are very well balanced (Just the way I like it....;o) I think the effect of drama could be introduced by increasing the contrast again, as there is an absence of a strong light source for obvious reasons. (That may sound weird, a request for a stronger contrast coming from me.... I guess it all depends on the subject!)

I always enjoy how you create a strong tension and dynamism in your photos by basically only using camera position and perspective. Very inspiring.... Well done,

Cheers,

Hugo
