If, when you relax your eyes, they tend to drift into a slightly cross-eyed look, you'll be able to see the stereo effect just fine. Just don't cock your head at an angle, the two pictures need to drift towards one another with their tops and bottoms parallel and in line with each other, so they properly superimpose. Try it a good distance away from the screen; less strain on the eyes that way. I do hope you can manage it! It's quite spectacular, and it would be easy for you to take stereo photos because you include so few people (who can move and spoil things).

P.S. Just tried again and something started to happen, but I just couldn't get the two images to line up!! Ah, well, keep trying!!

Unfortunately not, Roger. I guess you need some special glasses? I tried looking at it as I would one of those 3D images made of dots, (which I can normally see without any problem), but that didn't work with this image. Kind regards, Chris

Tell me, Chris, could you see it in stereo? It really DOES look much better that way...

I got it - If you were glasses however I always recommend taking them off first - it helps alot. Interesting work - it harks back to those good ole days of stereo cameras! A fellow J-resident - Peter

Thanks for the explanation Roger - it sounds really cool. I took another look and I guess my eyes don't want to cooperate either :-). However I do like the shot - definitely worth exploring some more I think. Regards.

HI Roger,
I know what I should be looking for, but my eyes just won't let me see these stereo shots. I was never very good at those 3d posters that were around a few years ago!
I think you are correct about the potential at this location though, the straight lines and low sun should be perfect for the pano cameras.
Regards

Although I cannot see it as I should, I can imagine that the stumps in their daigonal places create the sense of depth. Regards, Rob.

OK, forgive me but I have to ask - I'm new to SLR so please forgive my ignorance, but what is a stereo shot?
