Yes, now that you point it out I can see where sky turns into surf.... I never knew that there were places in Hawaii that looked like this!
If I ever make it to Hawaii I'll make sure to check out this place... magical!

Kim, I would love to go to Africa, but this was shot in another beautiful place. Waimea is on the big island of Hawaii, up high where the cool breezes blow. In this shot, the blue ocean is visible in the background.
If I ever move to Hawaii, Waimea is tops on my list. It had an unexpected beauty...rolling hills and cool temperatures. I love the beaches too, but Waimea really struck a chord with me.

Mary Sue... when did you go to Africa??? Truly, this looks like something from a different part of the world... not a building in sight and only a couple of gnarled old trees standing against the sky.

this is quite a stunning image. the perspective is great in that I'm not sure what is happening in the distance. So I'm intrigued enough to stare at it a long time to assess it....I just love the mystery this photo creates for me.

This photograph portrays the classic island landscape, because there's the incorporation of the ever-present elements of earth, sky, water and light. And they all meet in this composition. When I was there, I brought along color film and b&w. I don't recall any of the b&w's being successful. Maybe it wasn't what I was seeing. The islands are about color, I guess. I really can't put it into words, but the reaction to the environment seems to warrant the use of color.

Nice scene, beautiful sky, unfortunately rest of the colors a little bit flat. I wonder if putting the trees more in front and even more to the border would not improve the composition. Regards Jorg
