I grew up in Geraldton, Western Australia, off which the Batavia was wrecked, so it's lovely to see it here. As to the light? - the expression of the lion does give it an amusing edge, and ultimately photography is an expression of your own mood and thoughts, and should never be an attempt to satisfy others sense of aesthetics. Best regards.

Right, it brings something in to have the street lamp, but it is hard to associate the two (two eras, two totally different aesthetics) - that is why I would also be tempted to crop it out.

Thanks for all your replies. I've thought about taking out the streetlamp, but decided to let it stay, because of the expression on the lion's face, like: WOW, what the hell is that!!!??? But then, maybe, I should have put another title in.

Very nice detail in the ship but I don't like the light pole in the composition. Don.

Beautiful color and the details are really sharp. I would just crop the street lamp as it's a little distracting. Good job!! Keep up the good work Kevin
