About Yep, another sunset. Could not resisting shooting a couple, as the extremely vivid colours and firy sky were exactly as they appear in this photo. The air polution in Tehran may be a huge problem, but it also can be held responsible for some unreal effects. This series is posted as photographed. No level tweaking, no cheating on colour saturation, and, except for the framing no Photoshop.... As promised, this one's dedicated to you, Sunset!

Cheers,

Hugo

Thanks for your comment, and you're absolutely right about the framing. It's too present, and not complementing to the image. Been struggling with it for some time, as I do like a framed image, and like to preserve some sort of consistency in my photos. I wonder, do you think the border has improved with my later additions?

Cheers,

Hugo

Being a lover of colour, this drew me in right away! What a magical time to be taking in the view! The cloud rays add some depth and intrigue to the image as well.. not a typical sunset.
I'm not sure about the border though.. seems to take away from the beauty of the sky as it competes with it. Perhaps a slim line of orange with a larger black border?

Very dramatic sunset, Hugo. You are right on when you say the effects of the pollution can be held accountable. Certainly gave this some healthy effects that resulted in no need for saturation.

By the way, thank you for your comments on my photo of the cabin. I struggled with that frame forever, trying to decide whether I liked it or not. I should have gone with my first instinct and done something different.

At last someone else who doesn't fear to bring out a tele for something that's not wildlife or sports :)

Good composition with excellent lighting here, better colours than I'm used to with NPH (yes, I used it too, found it a bit flat).

Een fraaie serie. Het is prachtig dat je het licht kan zien in strepen, dat dit te danken is aan vervuiling kan ik me voorstellen. De verdeling van 2/3 1/3 is krachtig en werkt goed.

Beautiful colours and great silhouette. Think maybe some of the black area at the bottom and maybe some of the top can be cropped to produce a more focused image. I like this series of sunset shots as I do the same thing. I end up with maybe a dozen shots then select the best one.
Best regards,
Graham.

Hi Hugo,
the sky has got some interesting colors, no wonder you couldn t resist to take this nicely composed photo.
The silhouette in the F/G is also very good with its sawtooth shape
( Also many thanks for your comments which are very constructive ! )
Hope you liked Iran, you ve taken beautiful photos over there. These people are very nice and you can feel always save there.
Till soon
Jan (named Ali-Reza also since 8 years :)) )

Promises ... Promises ... Promises ... and Kept!
Just my style and warmed these old bones up quite a bit!

Agree with your comment about the pollution effect(s) also. When Maunakea on the 'Big Island' is more active at certain times we have in Hawaii what is called 'VOG', (that is 'Volcano + Smog'), but it is very brief because we are way out in the middle of the Pacific and therefore the atmosphere is cleansed daily and thoroughly if you understand what I mean.

Thanks for the dedication and I in turn pass on this humble honor to everyone else who has visited and continues to visit this 'Image Page'!

Congrats on yet another 'HOT Topic' shot which is just about the temperature of this scene also!

Best of Regards ...

As you said... another sunset... Another "dejá vú"... But this one has a story, a Hugo's story, that always is capable of giving things a different meaning... A crowd is always a crowd, a ruin is always a ruin, there are many different planes but they all fly.... But the way you see them, and show them to us, has your brand (?), your personal interpretation... In this way, even a "déja vu" becames a "jamais vu"... You are a great story teller... Now I understand the I,II,III style...

Beautiful sunset/cityscape photo. The colors are rich and gorgeous and to not take this shot would have just been a missed opportunity. Incredible!

Groeten, Lex.

hugo, wonderful! you've done it again. i really like this exposure as it brings out the colors in the clouds and the light itself. It's also interesting how you can actually see the lights in some of the houses/apt's. i really admire how you manage to avoid the temptation of PS. so many folks, including myself, would probably be tempted to make this "better" by mucking with it in PS. it is a testament to your superb photography skills. do not change a thing. i hope to one day elevate my skills somewhere near your level. great work!

Like sunsets in the vicinity of a large forest fire or after a volcanic explosion. Classic sunset - not much to critique ;)
