An amazing and interesting photograph, Sandy. Whatever it is he is looking at, and to have to crouch down in order to see life unfolding is a unique perspective from either point of view.

Kristina, actually children draw according to importance to them, they usually draww hands and legs larger because they feel tey're big. the head and legs are very important to them.....
Sandy I think its amazing how you managed to comunicate to pokey. Not everybody is open enough to let some stranger (are you a stanger?) take pictures of you.... I find it very interesting to interact with people on the street. someday I 'll show you some of my street pictures :))

Strange pose, but interesting and very good photo! I smile, because it makes me think of my 3 year old sons drawings of people. They never have bodies... the arms and legs come straight from head. I think most kids start like that when they draw human beings... I wonder why.

she wasn;t a crackhead. she was a person.
the city has many many layers of beauty as well as distress. i am regretting putting this series up because it is giving people the wrong impression of where i live. there is this there yes..there is also alot of downtown earth soul searchers. artists musicians moms dads sisters brothers. really same as anywhere you go, only its where the unwanted are pushed..until the rich folk want it back again. then they just push em somewhere else. this woman had tons of self confidence. so much so she just didn;t care what anyone thought about her. i find that admirable. quite admirable actually.
someone who does not live in the inner city may tend to think that there is only ugliness. and that isn;t true. not at all.
sorry if this series was at all taken out of context. people are people. some are just more comfortable with who they are. no matter how "undesirable" they may appear to others. they know they have a right to exist. and why wouldn't they?
:) thanks again everyone

i think this is an excellent photo. it really bring everybody back to reality. showing how a city really is on the streets. where else can you see a krack head bending over to look for his rock and the police at the same time.

Pokey part 3!!! Great composition in this... the hotness of the light in the upper right brings the focus into the subject nicely. Nicely stated Sandy... Beautiful poem.. :)

Well... when the earth quakes beneath ones feet there is nothing to do but to be a quake...
PS: I agree with your comment about the left part of "beauty & the beast". It's better to focus the faces.

Well Sandy, you have a way of capturing the most basic subjects and turning them into something worth while. Oh by the way, We have a saying in the Navy that says when the ship goes down the only thing left to do is to spread your legs, bend over and kiss your --- good bye. In an earth quake what good is hunkering down going to do any way??? Peace....

when the earth quakes beneath ones feet there is nothing to do but hunker down..
but only for a little while the quake is followed by such a rapturous calm it envelopes us in new born reality and takes us where we really want to go.
