Thanks for your reply, Greg. I'm actually a bit confused here... You mentionned about light and colors, which were originaly wonderful to me, whereas I was talking mostly about composition. So maybe, with my bad English, I didn't make myself very clear, I don't know. Was there a misunderstanding ? I wonder... Regards.
Marc - I don't know if I agree with all you have saud - one issue is the differences on everyone's screen - the light levels at the bottom are easy to fix. What i see with the image is the samll patch of pink on the right - which coiuld be cloned out and a crop atthe bottom would certainly eliminate the dar area at the bottom - what I think is that images such as this have to be printed out and left be with man y views - our expectations often dictate chages that may or may not be appropriate in the long run - I appreciate your suggestions. Thought I would play with the original - note the crop and the original colors

Hi, Greg. If I may, I'll try my luck stating the pros and cons I see in this image.
What strikes me as really fantastic is the textures and colors on the water surface. That, alone, is enough to make this a very good image imo. Yet, I feel this picture might not be in the "excellent" category, simply due to the composition. Please bare in mind that I a shot very few nature shots in my life, so I may just miss the point. But here is what I feel about the composition...
The water ripples suggest lightness to me, and so do the clouds reflected in it. Yet, the picture is very heavy at the bottom as opposed to the top. I would say it looks unbalanced and this lack of balance seems to be in contradiction with the lightness suggested in the image.
Then, I wondered whether there was a way, by changing the camera angle, to separate the "grass" from the cloud reflection ?
Another thing that disturbs me a bit is the fact that the "grass" is right in the middle of the frame. I am very keen in symetrical compositions in general, but such compositions, theoretically, are supposed to work best with a very good balance... Then again, I'm pretty sure you know all these theories... :-) So I came to wonder whether you DELIBERATELY broke the rules here, and if so, with what aim... On another hand, I suspect somehow that you have another more conventionally composed picture of this subject somewhere...:-)
What's the secret, if I may ask ?
(Still an 8 to me, by the way, because the water itself is already enough to make me fly...:-) Best regards.
